Huautla mushrooms were first introduced to western society in the 1950’s by legendary medicine woman Maria Sabina, of Huautla de Jimenez, Oaxaca, Mexico. Hobby mycologist and banker R. Gordon Wasson travelled to Mexico in search of enlightenment, and heard tales of the famous curandera, who had been curing the locals of illness for several decades. He convinced her to allow him to participate in one of her ceremonies, and later photos of his experience were published in Life magazine. He’d been struck by the life-altering effects, and soon enough hippies were flocking to the countryside. This strain of Psilocybe cubensis is of moderate potency and is very cerebral, providing users with deep introspection, creativity and enchanting visuals.
Organic HighQ microdose capsules are made with rare Huautla mushrooms; the first hallucinogenic variety to be introduced to modern society by Mazatec shaman and ‘priestess of mushrooms’ Maria Sabina. We work with a trusted cooperative of growers who are dedicated to producing top quality mushrooms. Much like cannabis, selecting the right phenotype is essential to growing five-star fungi. On average, 6-8 months is spent developing each variety in order to yield a healthy isolate with the highest potency possible. The mushrooms are then produced using organic rye and meticulously monitored for humidity and temperature. Once ready for harvest, they are picked during a very specific 5-6 hour window before they begin to sporulate; then dried without heat to best preserve their psychoactive hallucinogenic alkaloids.
